Now I am stuck debating whether I want to try and get it fixed or not. I went around to like, 6 places looking for a good machine in my price range and found nothing, so I am a little discouraged.
I actually bought one, but it sounded like a train when I used it, and that if I continued using it it would break, so I returned it.
I really like my old machine, I just wish I knew how to fix it myself. It's from Montgomery Ward, which doesn't exist anymore, so it looks like I won't be getting another like it.
Anyhow, I managed to get a few new items made before my machine decided to stop running. Enjoy!

That is sad! Have you thought of buying a second-hand machine. I have an Elna that I bought second-hand when I first came to France, leaving my Singer behind. Or get an estimate on a repair. I find sewing machines are usually made to last, unlike most other machines one has to replace regularly. Good luck!
Oh man, that is sad. Can you post about what you decide to get, if you get a new machine? I'm in the market too. I'm tired of my Brother.
Are there no sewing machine repairmen in your area? We have several and althought its costly..if you really love a machine its worth it! They dont make em like they used to!
I can't even imagine what you must be feeling right now! I got my sewing machine in college and 7 years later, I still dependent on it. It's a Kenmore and it's basic, but it works really well. I also highly recommend Singers. My mom had one (which I used) for about 20 years and it was awesome. I hope you can get a new one soon!
